On the occasion of 10th anniversary of the “Belt and Road” initiative put forward by President Xi Jinping, from Sep. 27 to Oct. 2, Peng Shou, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, chief scientist of China National Building Material Group Co., Ltd. and Party committee secretary of CNBM Research Institute for Advanced Glass Materials Group Co., Ltd. was invited to pay a visit to Europe. He went to France, Italy and the UK to hold talks with the leaders of several enterprises there on comprehensive deepening of cooperation and promotion of high-quality development, and reached several agreements, implementing the “Belt and Road” initiative with practical actions.
On Sep. 28, Peng Shou was invited to visit the headquarters and research and development center of Saint-Gobain in France, where he held talks with Yves Brechet, academician of Academia Europaea, academician of French Academy of Sciences, and global chief scientist of Saint-Gobain. Peng Shou conveyed sincere greetings from Zhou Yuxian, Party committee secretary and board chairman of China National Building Material Group Co., Ltd. He said this visit aimed to further promote strategic cooperation between CNBM and Saint-Gobain, implement the goals and plans of both sides in energy conservation, carbon reduction, etc. in the glass industry, fully utilize their respective proprietary advantages, deepen comprehensive cooperation, and promote common development. Yves Brechet expressed his expectation for cooperation with CNBM and is willing to actively cooperate in areas such as carbon capture, energy conservation and consumption reduction, continuously contributing scientific and technological strength to achieving sustainable development goal and building a zero-carbon industry.
At the Saint-Gobain research and development center, Hélène Lannibois-Dean, the executive director of the center, introduced Saint-Gobain's research and development and innovations, product programs, talent teams, zero-carbon goals, and other aspects. Cecile Josseaume, the director of the glass department of the research and development center, introduced the development of Saint-Gobain's glass business. Peng Shou expressed appreciation for Saint-Gobain's achievements in research and development, as well as its research and exploration on carbon reduction. He also expressed the willingness to further strengthen exchanges and communications and jointly promote the global carbon reduction cause in the future. On Sep. 29, Peng Shou was invited to attend the Advisory Committee Meeting of the International Commission on Glass and the Glass Supplier Committee Meeting, and had talks with globally renowned glass enterprises, discussing in depth the topics such as the next development in the global glass industry, international market expansion modes, and strategic cooperation and mutual trust.
From Sep. 30 to Oct. 2, Peng Shou went to the UK to hold talks with Daniel Tain, president of GPC Group and Barry O'Neill, CEO of Welink Group respectively, to conduct practical communications on cooperation progress, project issues and challenges, etc. Sun Jie, vice president of China Triumph International Engineering Co., Ltd. and general manager of Jetion Solar (China) Co., Ltd., and relevant department heads accompanied the visit.
